Edge-Lit returns to QUAD for a day of horror, fantasy and sci-fi writing
This year sees the 11th running of Edge-Lit, Derby’s annual event for writers and readers of genre fiction. The event will be running at QUAD and gathering together more than 25 authors from up and down the country for a loaded day of interviews, panels, workshops and much more.
This year’s headline Guests of Honour feature Matthew Holness – known to horror lovers as TV’s Garth Marenghi, and director of acclaimed feature Possum – Tim Lebbon, author of The Silence (adapted into a Netflix movie), Eden and Among the Living, and bestselling science-fiction writer Peter F Hamilton, one of the UK’s best known names in the genre. Each of our Guests of Honour will have a feature interview slot, and the event will also be hosting an introduced screening of Possum to close the day.
The event will also feature an array of British horror, fantasy and science-fiction writing talent including RJ Barker, JS Barnes, Ramsey Campbell, V Castro, Dan Coxon, Mark Morris, Juliet E McKenna. Nuzu Onoh and many more.
Event co-ordinator Alex Davis said: ’Edge-Lit has been a firm feature on Derby’s writing calendar, as well as the national genre fiction calendar, for over a decade now and we’re looking forward to another big year in 2025! With exciting events running simultaneously throughout the day, there’s bound to be plenty to do for any fans or aspiring authors of horror, fantasy and sci-fi!’
Adam J Marsh, Head Of Film at QUAD said “It’s always a joy to welcome some of the best sci-fi, horror and fantasy authors to QUAD. I always come away with great advice on writing, insights into the writing process and a year’s worth of books in my arms!”
Edge-Lit runs from 10am-9pm on the 20th September at QUAD, and tickets are £35 including access to all of our interviews, panels and workshops, as well as our raffle, closing film screening and more.
